What you gain
Instant torque, no fuel smell, far less routine maintenance, and a car that starts every time. Many owners drive their classic more after conversion than they did in the previous decade.
What you give up
Engine sound and the ritual of carburetor tuning. Range is limited compared to a modern EV, and fast charging is usually not practical. Weight increases, so suspension and brakes must be upgraded.
Resale and originality
For numbers matching collector cars, choose a reversible conversion and store the original drivetrain. For drivers and restomods, a well documented electric build can command a premium in the right market.
The verdict
If you want to drive your classic often and enjoy modern reliability, a professionally engineered conversion is worth it. Work with a Certified Installer and insist on documentation.
